Sinton Company delivered a speech and paper related to IEC standards at the EU Photovoltaic and Solar Energy Exhibition. When using the best methods in the industry, the spectrum of most solar simulators has little impact on the accuracy of the results. However, if there is significant diffusion in the spectral response of units or modules in the production unit, this will create uncertainty in the power measurement of units or modules. The method followed in the paper was proposed by Hermann to study this impact. The main result is that the impact on (polycrystalline and a group of single crystal cells) is relatively small, introducing a standard deviation of a few thousandths for a medium-sized sample set. This paper also confirms once again that the spectral classification of the simulator cannot provide reliable and accurate test results, such as spectral mismatch coefficients (deviation error) or uncertainty introduced by spectral variation within the battery cell (random error). This is the fourth paper in a series of topics on the best practices and relationship standard methodology for measuring battery cells and modules.
